Shelton Formal Meet - September 8th
2007
The
Yankee Chapter of the AOMCI is holding a formal wet meet at Indian Well
State Park on September 8th. Located in Shelton CT on the Housatonic
River, the park sports ample parking, a boat ramp, plenty of beachfront
for boats to be pulled up, barbecues and port-a-potties. Directions
can be found at the bottom of this page.
There will be a sign in and $5 entry fee per member family attending
the meet to cover the cost of the event - you must be a current AOMCI
member to participate.
The
Yankee Chapter of the AOMCI encourages people
to bring motors, boats and outboard related items to the formal meet
regardless of if they are entered in the formal judging. The
national AOMCI organization requires each chapter to have one formal
event and meeting each year. The judging will start at 10:00am with
awards and a brief annual chapter meeting at approximately 12:00PM.
2007
marks the 85th anniversary of Johnson outboard motors. To honor this
historic event the Yankee Chapter will celebrate by devoting the 2007
awards exclusively to motors from Johnson. The awards will be in the
following categories.

Note: We want to see as many 1921-26 Johnson Model A's as possible.
There will be a special shared prize for the two owners of motors (from
different collections) with the closest serial numbers!
Fitting with Johnson's legendary reliability
and dependability, all motors entered in the formal judging must be
in operational condition - judges may request a demonstration.
In
addition to the formal judging, it would be outstanding to have
one of each Johnson model represented at the meet for the first 20 years
of production: 1922-1942. (We want post war motors too
but it was too much to ask to have every model from the first 50 years!)
We will try to note in the Motors Expected column below what people
email us they will be displaying, this will help you decide on what
to bring. Please email the webmaster at the "Contact Us" link
on the bottom of this page.
The
more Johnson Outboards the merrier!
(If your motor does not appear on the list below please email the webmaster
and it will be added!)
