Yankee Chapter: Making Waves With Old Outboards

Rogers Lake CT - June 4th 2011

What started a couple of years ago as a little run-what-you-bring event has really blossomed! A huge thanks to Rod C. for hosting the event and to all the folks who came - some all the way from NH!! I think all total we had about 15 members/families and just about maxed out the parking lot. (Good thing is was a quiet day there!)

Thanks to Maureen L., Tom M., Tom C., Rod C. and others for the photos

The ramp - boats ready to go!
Tom and his 1940 Elto Handitwin model 4357
Bob Z. gave Graham this little '47 Sportsman at Glen's meet a couple of weeks ago. Graham and dad went through it and got it to run. This is the perfect kid motor - his face says it all!
Motors waiting to be run
Art & Graham stopped the West Bend for a gam with Norm D.
Norm's new Jon boat was really cool - went like the wind with just the '62 Evinrude Sportwin 10hp.
Bob Z. goes for a ride with Walt L. and his Merc 200
Little HD-25 Johnson 2.5hp was perfect for the little Jon boat
Ken H. and Bill A. try out a QD-14 - motor was a fresh barn find and had just been gone through. Since the covers are a pain to install, best to be sure everything is working first!
Dean P. admiring Tom M's 1954 Johnson 5.5hp - wishes his Merc ran as well....
Art S. paddles in after Harry's 1940 Lauson OB-410 2.5hp refused to start - more crud in the carb from the ethanol "cleaning" the inside of the tank.
Cole and Ken B. running the KH-7 Cruiser - NICE!!
And the Mark 6 did well too, once it got started
Graham & Art and Tom and David enjoying the beautiful day!
Host Rod C. holds the hungary hoards at bay with his spatula!
Member of the community saw our AOMCI gang out on the lake and stopped by for help with his 1950 Johnson HD-25 2.5hp . Everyone pitched in to help!
Walt L's Mercury 200 at rest
Will G. and his recent barn find a 1970 Johnson 4hp
Team Maffei came all the way down from NH and had a great time. Here Michelle checks an f-stop as Gary films.
Lookee, a 1938 Bendix SMD 2.5hp just laying around!
Hey guys, look at what Dean just found in the grass!

Tom M (on right) - "Well Dean, did they fall for it?"
Dean - "Well, I had Art going, but in the end they figured it out!"

Tom M. running the long-term-project Martin 100. This baby has been through the hands of a couple other AOMCI members - great to see it up & running!
Harry & meet host Rod C. give the Caille Model 79 a try
She runs GREAT!!
Tom M. choreographed and took the photo above. For those of you not familiar, long time Yankee Chapter anchor-man Dan T. recently re-located back to his home state of Missouri. Now he's active with the AOMCI out there, our loss is their gain - we do miss you Dan! (And Harry could have used his tow service when his Lauson conked out....)
